Merkur

Merkur is a German brand with classic razors for men. This brand is also called Merkur Solingen sometimes because of the German town where they have been producing safety razors since 125 years.

The founder was Emil Hermes, but the name Hermes was already registered, so he picked the Roman version Merkur. Already in 1900, they started producing the Merkur Safety Razor. The design was changed a bit in 1935, but since then the Merkur Razor remained the same.

In the decades that followed more Merkur Double Edge Safety Razors were designed and made available. Multiple patents have been registered over the years.

In 1996 a new owner changed the brand name to Merkur Stahlwaren. Today Merkur is a very well-known brand in the world of wet shaving because of their very functional and high quality safety razors.

Merkur and Moquer

In 2021 Moquer started to focus more on classic razors and Merkur Solingen was at the top of the list. Germany has a long tradition of classic shaving products with high quality products and Merkur is undeniably one of them.
