Clay face mask for men

A clay mask can be made from all kinds of different clays, and that is why there are many different types of mask. There is a bentonite clay mask, aztec clay mask, pink clay mask, and many more. It purely depends on the type of clay used in the mask.

In many cases, you will see that this type of mask uses both charcoal and various types of clay. Bentonite and kaolin are natural clays that you will usually see listed in the ingredients.

What is a clay mask good for?

A clay mask is always intended to cleanse your face. A clay mask is meant as a deeper cleanse compared to, for example, a face wash. The clay helps to draw impurities from your pores. Charcoal is used for the same effect. Clay masks also have a mildly exfoliating effect.

Especially if you suffer from oily skin, then a charcoal face mask is good to use, as it helps to absorb excess oil. If you suffer from dry or sensitive skin, then you should be a bit more cautious with a clay mask, as it can otherwise be too harsh for your skin type. You can choose to leave the mask on for a shorter time for a slightly less intense cleanse.

How often to use a clay mask?

Because a clay mask provides a deep cleanse for your skin, it is important not to use it too often. About once or twice a week is sufficient for normal skin and a maximum of two to three times per week for oily skin. At a certain point, you will figure out how often works best for your skin type.

How long to leave a clay mask on?

Most clay mask product descriptions will indicate how long you should leave it on. The longer you leave it on, the deeper the cleanse, but as mentioned earlier, it is important not to overdo it.

It can be tempting to use a clay mask frequently and for a long time on oily skin to try and dry it out in the fight against impurities, but that will likely only make it worse. Your skin will try to counteract the dryness and then produce too much sebum, which leads to clogged pores that cause impurities.

What to do after a clay mask?

To prevent your skin from becoming too dry, it is essential to apply a good moisturiser after every use of a clay mask. After a deep cleanse, your skin really needs hydration and care. In most cases, brands offer both a clay mask and a moisturiser in their range, so they complement each other well. A day cream or night cream can work as well, depending on the moment you are applying the clay mask.

Best clay mask for men

Clay masks are also available for men for a deep cleanse of your skin. Brickell Charcoal Face Mask contains both charcoal, kaolin and bentonite for a thorough cleanse, but also includes hydrating ingredients to compensate, such as hyaluronic acid.

If you prefer a real clay mask without charcoal, then the Baxter of California Clay Mask is a popular option. And if you want to use a mask with only charcoal, then the Pacinos Black Mask is a good option. This product contains bamboo charcoal as its cleansing ingredient.
